Chapter 2. Problem Set A for Vectors in 3-D — Exercises

[ 2 ] Answer to the following problems.

  (a ) For given points A(0, 1, 2), B(1, −1, 1), C(2, 1, −3), D(0, 5, −1), find the following vectors in terms of their components.

  (1) (2) (3) (4) (5)

  (b ) For A(x , 0, 1), B(0, y , 3), C(3, −1, z ), O(0, 0, 0), find the value of x , y , z so that the relation = 2 holds.

Short Answers :

[ 2 ]

(a ) (1) = (1,−2, −1), (2) = (2, 0, −5), (3) = (1, 2, −4), (4) = (−1, 6, −2), (5) = (−2, 4, 2)

(b ) x = 6, y = −1, z = 7/2
